Since these tend to be the things that irritate many of the readers here, who can suggest the names of cruise lines that dont have most of these problems? For me, I find that HAL has the fewest on my list of annoyances. The slot machine noise will be found on any ship with a casino. The saving of seats in the theater, or chaises on deck will also be found on any mass market line. HAL tends to attract fewer kids, so one would hope that there would be fewer kids in the hot tubs. Disney might be best for keeping kids out of hot tubs, since they seem to do a really good job of keeping the kids busy with planned activities that dont involve them being in the spaces. Ive found the photographers to be annoying on all ships Ive been on, all the lines...and their pushiness seems to be getting worse...or maybe Ive just become more sensitive to it. I cant say Ive ever been bothered by announcements over the PA - I try to listen to the captains address (at noon?) but other than .
After that we are going to go on the NCL Pearl. We liked Freestyle when we tried it before, and Im hoping that we havent become so old and set in our ways that we wont enjoy Freestyle again. Has anyone been on this ship? The Grandeur is a smaller ship, I enjoyed it. I like the Solarium, which is an s only swimming pool and hot tub area. It is a nice and quiet place where you can relax and watch the sea go by. You can sit in the sun or the shade.
Ft. Lauderdale and Key West Florida are some of my favorite vacation spots. But there is something you should know. Anyplace warm in February is going to have very high hotel rates. Reservations three months in advance are necessary at most places, if you want a decent room.
Were in the market for a used or new hot tub. One thing were concerned about is the maximum operating temperature. It looks as if all hot tub thermostats are now capped at 104 degrees for safety reasons. That would probably be OK for me, but for my wife who likes it hot, hot, hot, that just wont cut it.
How about the photographers set up all over the ship. The set-ups and the lines waiting to have their pictures done block the flow of traffic. This is particularly bad when a person is in a wheelchair. I find it annoying that you have to go through the photographer gauntlet each time you disembark in port. They should have two lines - one for those that would like to have their picture taken, and one for those that would rather get going on whatever theyve planned for their day in port, without delay!
